  • The Beatles were the featured attraction in the first ever live global satellite television broadcast, in June 1967. On the television show called Our World, shown simultenously in 24 countries via satellite, they performed "All You Need Is Love."
  • On April 4, 1964, the Beatles held the five top slots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. No. 1: "Can't Buy Me Love," No. 2: "Twist and Shout," No. 3: "She Loves You," No. 4: "I Want to Hold Your Hand," No. 5: "Please Please Me"

  • The Beatles were the first band to use feedback in a song recording. The distortion opens the song "I Feel Fine," released in Nov. 1964.
  • The Beatles were the first band to use backmasking—recording a sound or music backwards. They used the technique on "Tomorrow Never Knows," "I'm Only Sleeping," and "Rain."
  • The album 1, released on November 13, 2000, was the first Beatles compilation released on CD.
  • The Beatles catalog became available on iTunes on Nov. 16, 2010.
