Macedonia
GovernmentMacedonia is governed under the constitution of 1991 as amended. The president, who is the head of state, is popularly elected for a five-year term and is eligible for a second term. The government is headed by the prime minister, who is elected by the Assembly, as is the cabinet. The 120 members of the unicameral Assembly ( Sobranie ) are elected from party lists by popular vote to serve four-year terms. Administratively, the country is divided into 85 municipalities.
