Gwent

Gwent (gwĕnt) [key], former county, SE Wales. Created in the 1974 administrative reorganization of Wales from most of Monmouthshire and part of Breconshire, it was dissolved in 1996 and divided among the unitary authorities of Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Caerphilly, and Newport.
