EnkhuizenEnkhuizen (ĕngkˈhoiˌzən) [key], town (1994 pop. 16,037), North Holland prov., N central Netherlands, a port on the IJsselmeer. It is a commercial and industrial center with shipyards. The town played an important part in the Dutch struggle for independence and was a prosperous fishing and trading center in the 17th cent.
