Dybbøl

Dybbøl (dübˈöl) [key], Ger. Düppel, village, Sønderjylland co., S Denmark, on the Flensborg Fjord. The Danes were defeated at Dybbøl in 1849 by Saxon and Bavarian troops and in 1864 by the Prussians, who held the village until 1920.
