Bhatpara

Bhatpara (bətpäˈrə) [key], city (1991 pop. 315,314), West Bengal state, NE India, on the Hugli River. Once a center of Sanskrit learning, it is now part of the Hugliside industrial complex. Jute products, paper, and cotton goods are the chief manufactures.
