Bernburg

Bernburg (bĕrnˈbŏrk) [key], city (1994 pop. 37,300), Saxony-Anhalt, E Germany, on the Saale River. It has important salt mines, a large soda plant, sugar refineries, and machinery plants. There is a 16th-century castle in the city.
