San Benito

San Benito săn bənēˈtō [key], city (1990 pop. 20,125), Cameron co., extreme S Tex.; inc. 1911. San Benito is chiefly a processing center for citrus fruit and vegetables grown in the irrigated region of the lower Rio Grande valley. Other products include processed meat, fire retardant coverings, and concrete. San Benito is also a retirement and winter tourist center.
