Hobart (hōˈbərt) [key], city (1990 pop. 21,822), Lake co., extreme NW Ind.; settled c.1849, inc. 1921. Metal products, electric coils and transformers, herbal products, tools and castings, and processed foods are made in Hobart. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is nearby (see National Parks and Monuments (table)).
