hallel (həlālˈ, hălˈĕl) [key] [Heb., = praise], in Judaism, Psalms 113 to 118, sung every morning of Hanukkah, at the Passover service, and at the morning service of most major Jewish holidays as an expression of joy and thanksgiving.
