William Paca

Paca, William (pāˈkə, păkˈə) [key], 1740–99, political leader in the American Revolution, signer of the Declaration of Independence, b. near Abingdon, Md. A lawyer and Maryland legislator, he served (1774–79) in the Continental Congress. Paca was governor of Maryland from 1782 to 1785 and was also a judge of state courts and of a U.S. district court.
