Paamiut (päˈmēōtˌ) [key], formerly Frederikshåb frĭħˈrĭgzhôpˌ, town (1996 pop. 2,040), Paamiut dist., SW Greenland; founded in 1792. Fishing, seal hunting, and sheep raising are the main occupations.
