Francesco MochiMochi, Francesco (fränchĕsˈkō môˈkē) [key], 1580–1654, Italian sculptor. Mochi's attraction to the baroque aesthetic led him to create dramatic sculptures notable for swirling drapery (e.g., Archangel of the Annunciation, Mus. dell'Opera del Duomo, Orvieto). His later work exhibited a more mannerist style. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed. Copyright © 2012, Columbia University Press. All rights reserved.
