Khrushchev, Nikita Sergeyevich (nyĭkēˈtə syĭrgāˈyəvĭch khrŏschôfˈ) [key], 1894–1971, Soviet Communist leader, premier of the USSR (1958–64), and first secretary of the Communist party of the Soviet Union (1953–64).
