Byrhtnoth

Byrhtnoth (bĭrkhtˈnōth) [key] or Bryhtnoth brĪkhtˈnōth, d. 991, alderman of the East Saxons. Leader of the English forces in the battle of Maldon, he was killed in the battle and was buried at Ely.
