Barberini, Francesco

Barberini, Francesco fränchāsˈkō bärbārēˈnē [key], 1597–1679, Italian prelate and Orientalist, a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church and the nephew of Urban VIII. He was a founder of the library at Rome noted for rare manuscripts; many of these are now in the library of the Vatican.
