Maumee

Maumee (mômē') [key], residential city (1990 pop. 15,561), Lucas co., NW Ohio, on the Maumee River; inc. 1838. Maumee was the site of Fort Miami, a British post surrendered to the Americans during the War of 1812. There is an automotive stamping plant in the city. Nearby is Fallen Timbers Battlefield and also the historical monument commemorating the battle fought in 1794. The Maumee River is navigable and courses N and NE through Toledo, Ohio, where it enters Lake Erie through Maumee Bay.
