Settled largely by Mennonites from Pennsylvania in 1806, it was known as Berlin until 1916, when it was renamed in memory of Lord Kitchener. Its products include packaged meats, metal and leather goods, spirits, appliances, furniture, and rubber products. Because of the close socioeconomic ties between Kitchener and the city of Waterloo, the area is commonly known as Kitchener-Waterloo. Woodside National Historic Park commemorates the birthplace of W.
