Kaneohe

Kaneohe (kä'nāōhā) [key], uninc. city (1990 pop. 35,448), Honolulu co., Hawaii, on the east coast of Oahu, on Kaneohe Bay. Once the site of a pineapple plantation and cannery, it is a residential seaside community. A nearby U.S. marine corps air station was attacked by the Japanese on Dec. 7, 1941. Many ancient fishponds built by Hawaiian chiefs are in the area.
