Elyria

Elyria (ēlēr'ēu) [key], city (1990 pop. 56,746), seat of Lorain co., N Ohio, on the Black River; inc. 1833. It is an industrial center in a farm region. Its manufactures include plastics, automotive parts, motors, tools, and machine and foundry products. Cascade Park, with waterfalls, caves, nature trails, and a zoo, is in the heart of the city. Also in Elyria is the extensive Elyria Memorial Hospital.
