Vox et Praeterea Nihil

Echo; a threat not followed out. When the Lacedemonian plucked the nightingale, on seeing so little substance he exclaimed, “Vox tu es, et nihil praeterea.” ($$$. Plut. Opp. Mor. Apophthegmata Laconica.)
