Cimmerian Darkness
Homer (possibly from some story as to the Arctic night)
supposes the Cimmerians to dwell in a land “beyond the ocean-stream,”
where the sun never shone. (Odys., xi. 14.)
“In dark Cimmerian desert ever dwell.”
Milton: L'Allegro.
