lyric writer and aviator who, with her husband, Charles Lindbergh, traveled all over the globe, setting a number of aviational records. She got her glider pilot’s license in 1930, becoming the first American woman to do so, and served as her husband's navigator, radio operator, and copilot. They were one of the most high-profile couples of the 1930s, particularly after the tragic kidnapping and murder of their son, Charles Jr., in 1932. Lindbergh wrote more than two dozen critically and commercially successful books, including 1955's Gift from the Sea.
