Matthew McConaughey actor

Birthplace: Uvalde, Texas
Film actor best known for his jump from relative obscurity to having a starring role in the John Grisham movie A Time to Kill (1996). After graduating from the University of Texas, Austin, McConaughey made his way to Hollywood, where he signed on with the William Morris Agency. Other films include Boys on the Side (1995), Contact (1997), Amistad (1997), The Newton Boys (1998), Edtv (1999), U-571 (2000), The Wedding Planner (2001) and Reign of Fire (2001).
