Harry Belafonte

The son of Caribbean-born immigrants, he became one of the most popular vocalists of the postwar era and also starred in such films as Carmen Jones (1954), Island in the Sun (1957), and Odds Against Tomorrow (1959). After a long absence, he returned to film in the 1990's in White Man's Burden (1995), Kansas City (1996),,Swing Vote (1999), and Bobby (2006).
