Qatar

Qatar or Katar (both: kŭ'tur, gŭ–, kutär') [key], officially State of Qatar, independent emirate (2005 est. pop. 863,000), c.4,400 sq mi (11,400 sq km), E Arabia, coextensive with the Qatar peninsula, which projects into the Persian Gulf. The capital and largest city is Doha. For administrative purposes, the country is divided into nine municipalities.
