Parnassós

Parnassós (pär"näsôs') [key]or Parnassus (pärnă'sus) [key], mountain, c.8,060 ft (2,460 m) high, Phocis, central Greece. In ancient Greece it was sacred to Apollo, Dionysus, and the Muses. The fountain of Castalia was on its slopes; at the foot of the mountain lay Delphi. Corycian Cave, sacred to Pan, is located between Delphi and the summit. Bauxite is mined on the slopes.
