Lenin Peak

Lenin Peak, formerly Kaufmann Peak (kouf'mun) [key], 23,405 ft (7,134 m) high, on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It is the highest point in the Trans-Alai range, and in the USSR its height was exceeded only by Communism Peak (now Ismoili Somoni Peak) and Pobeda Peak. When it was renamed after Lenin in 1928 it was believed to be the highest point in the USSR.
