Drina

Drina (drē'nä) [key], river, c.285 mi (460 km) long, formed by the confluence of the Piva and Tara rivers of Montenegro. It flows generally N through Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Sava River. There are several high dams on the Drina and its headstreams. Višegrad, a major city along the river, is the setting of the historical novel The Bridge on the Drina by 1961 Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andrić.
