Bat Yam

Bat Yam (bät yäm) [key], city (1994 pop. 142,300), W central Israel, on the Mediterranean Sea, near Tel Aviv. It is a suburb and an industrial center. The city was founded in 1926 and originally called Bayit VeGan [Heb.,=home and garden].
