Amesbury

Amesbury (āmz'burē) [key], rural region, Wiltshire, S central England. In 980 the widow of King Edgar founded Amesbury Abbey, where Queen Guinevere of Arthurian legend is believed to have died. Stonehenge, the chief megalithic monument in Britain, is nearby.
