Los Gatos

Los Gatos (lôs gä'tōs, los, găt'us) [key], city (1990 pop. 27,357), Santa Clara co., W Calif.; inc. 1887. It is an affluent residential community and health resort. Los Gatos, Spanish for “the cats,” got its name from the wildcats that abounded in the Santa Clara valley at the time the city was founded.
