Located in a coal area, the city manufactures concrete, chemicals, machinery, and metal products. Col. Henry Bouquet defeated (1763) Native Americans near there, opening up W Pennsylvania for settlement. Greensburg (originally New Town) was located midway between Fort Ligonier and Fort Pitt.
