Alfonsine tables

Alfonsine tables or Alphonsine tables (ălfon'sin) [key], compilation of astronomical data tabulating the positions and movements of the planets, completed c.1252 and printed in Venice in 1483. They were a revision and improvement of the Ptolemaic tables and were compiled at Toledo, Spain, by about 50 astronomers assembled for the purpose by Alfonso X of Castile.
