EncyclopediaAquila PonticusAquila Ponticus (ăk'wilu, ukwil'u pon'tikus) [key], 2d cent., Jewish translator of the Old Testament from Hebrew into Greek. The characteristic feature of Aquila's version was its extremely literal rendering of the Hebrew. No complete specimen exists.
