Thomas, John Charles

Thomas, John Charles, 18911960, American baritone, b. Meyersdale, Pa., studied at the Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore. After a successful career in musical comedy he made his operatic debut in Washington, D.C., in 1924 and later sang with the Royal Opera, Brussels. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1934 in Verdi's La Traviata, joining the company in 1935. Well-known as a concert and radio singer, he also appeared in motion pictures.
