EncyclopediaQuinault, PhilippeQuinault, Philippe (fēlēp' kēnō') [key], 1635–88, French dramatist. His tragedies and comedies are affected and undistinguished, but he found an outlet for his talent in the 14 opera librettos which he wrote for Lully.
