Lynch, Thomas

Lynch, Thomas, 174979, political figure in the American Revolution, signer of the Declaration of Independence, b. Prince George's Parish, Winyaw, S.C. He was the son of a Carolina statesman, Thomas Lynch, and is known as Thomas Lynch, Jr. He was elected (1776) to the Continental Congress but soon resigned because of ill health. In an attempt to regain his health, Lynch sailed for the West Indies and was lost at sea.
