Ingenhousz, Jan

Ingenhousz, Jan (yän ing'unhous) [key], 173099, Dutch scientist. He practiced medicine in Holland, England, and Vienna and was noted for his skillful inoculations against smallpox. He demonstrated respiration in plants and recorded his observations in Experiments upon Vegetables (1779).
