Gérard, Jean Ignace Isidore

Gérard, Jean Ignace Isidore (zhäN ēnyäs' ēzēdôr' zhārär') [key], 180347, French caricaturist, illustrator, and lithographer, better known as Grandville. He is noted for his spirited caricatures of social and political life. Gérard contributed to many periodicals and published numerous collections of his drawings and lithographs, such as Les Métamorphoses du jour, Le Convoi de la liberté and La Basse-Cour. Among his illustrations are those for La Fontaine's Fables.
