Egan, Pierce

Egan, Pierce, 17721849, English sports writer. He was the author of Life in London, a lively account of the sporting gallants of the Regency. With its rough humor and colloquial style, it was popular from its first installment (1820). He also wrote (1812–24) Boxiana, a classic work on boxing.
