Darwin, Sir Francis

Darwin, Sir Francis, 18481925, English botanist, assistant to his father, Charles Robert Darwin. He lectured in botany at Cambridge and was foreign secretary of the Royal Society and president of the British Association. He edited the Life and Letters of Charles Darwin (1887) and was knighted in 1913.
