Charpentier, Gustave

Charpentier, Gustave (güstäv' shärpäNtyā') [key], 18601956, French composer; pupil of Massenet. His best-known works are the opera Louise (1900), portraying bohemian Parisian life, and his orchestral suite Impressions d'Italie (1892).
