Camphausen, Ludolf

Camphausen, Ludolf (lOO'dôlf kämp'houzun) [key], 1803–90, Prussian statesman and businessman. A leading merchant in Cologne, he headed the liberal ministry appointed by King Frederick William IV of Prussia after the revolutionary outburst of Mar., 1848. He was forced to resign in June when the Prussian assembly became more liberal and the king more conservative. He was an important figure at the Frankfurt Parliament.
