Bergognone

Bergognone (bergōnyō'nā) [key]or Borgognone (bôr–) [key], fl. 14501523, Italian painter, known also as Ambrogio Stefani da Fossano. His most important works are the frescoes in the Certosa of Pavia. His luminous and often charming paintings are in the National Gallery, London; the Louvre; the Metropolitan Museum; and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Other works have remained in the churches of Bergamo, Lodi, Milan, and Pavia.
