Arphaxad

Arphaxad (ärfăk'săd) [key], in the Bible. 1. Median king at Ecbatana, defeated by Nebuchadnezzar. He has not been definitely identified with anyone in other records. 2. Son of Shem. It has been supposed that he was the eponym of the Chaldaeans.
