Annensky, Innokenty Feodorovich (ēnuken'tyē fyô'duruvich unyen'skē) [key], 1856–1909, Russian poet. A classical scholar, he translated Euripides before he began to publish verse in 1904. His highly metrical lyrics concern death, suffering, and beauty. Annensky's scant output is collected in Quiet Songs (1904) and The Cypress Chest (1910).
