Amasis I

Amasis I (umā'sis) [key], d. c.1545 B.C., king of ancient Egypt (c.1570–1545 B.C.), founder of the XVIII dynasty. He drove the Hyksos out of the Nile delta and pursued them into Palestine. His name also appears as Ahmose.
