Zadie Smith is a British writer who became a literary sensation at the age of 24 with the publication of her first novel, White Teeth (2000). The novel, about multicultural families in North West London, brought Smith a hefty sum while she was a student at Cambridge and still in the process of writing it. White Teeth was a critical as well as commercial success and launched Smith on a literary career that has included teaching positions in the United States at Harvard, Columbia and New York University. She's also published essays, short stories and more novels, including The Autograph Man (2002), On Beauty (2005) and NW (2012).
