Michael B. Jordan

Actor

Born: 9 February 1987
Birthplace: Santa Ana, California
Best known as:

The star of Fruitvale Station

Name at birth: Michael Bakari Jordan

Before he won raves from critics for his leading role in Fruitvale Station, Michael B. Jordan was known to TV viewers as Wallace, a sensitive, troubled drug dealer on The Wire, back in 2002. He grew up in Newark, New Jersey and started his professional career as a part-time teen model. After a few early TV roles (including a bit on The Sopranos), Jordan made his mark on The Wire, and from then on had steady work as, of course, a sensitive, troubled teen. Jordan spent three years on the soap opera All My Children (2003-06), and then had a regular role on Friday Night Lights (2009-11) before getting more film work. He appeared in Red Tails and Chronicle in 2012, then won the starring role in 2013's Fruitvale Station, the true story of Oscar Grant III, an African American killed in 2009 by a Bay Area Transit Police Officer.
